Kinesio Taping
Kinesio Taping is used worldwide by top professional sports clubs and by many top sports professionals.
For more than 25 years, Kinesio Taping has been breaking new ground in the fields of sports performance, pain management and physical therapy.
The Kinesio Taping Method is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while allowing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion.
In other words, you can still train and play games with the tape in place, which in fact improves your performance as explained below.
It is used to successfully treat a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and medical conditions
.
How does Kinesio Taping method work?
- By stretching a muscle, applying the tape to the stretched muscle and returning the muscle to a neutral position, the tape forms wrinkles or convolutions in the skin. This wrinkling effect is an essential element in ensuring the efficacy of the Kinesiology Taping Technique on muscles.
- When a muscle is inflamed, swollen or stiff, the space between the skin and the muscle is compressed, which restricts the flow of lymphatic fluid. This compression applies pressure to the pain receptors beneath the skin, which in turn relays signals of discomfort to the brain resulting in the sensation of pain.
- By lifting the skin, the space between the skin and the muscles increases, so the lymphatic fluid between the skin and the muscles moves more effectively.
- Free movement of lymphatic fluid reduces friction between the underlying tissues, so the increased space between the skin and muscle results in reduced pressure on pain receptors.
- Pain relief and increased mobility is often instant.
What does Kinesio Tape look like?
 | Kinesio Taping used here for swelling & bruising after injury. |
- The thickness of the tape is the same as that of the skin epidermis, which is thinner than a plaster.
- We use skin coloured or white tape.
- It has no weight and has proven to improve athletes performance.
- Irritation of the skin has not been reported.
- The tape can work for MORE than 4-5 days.
- Kinesiology Tape allows normalisation of both over-stretched and over-contracted muscles; it also promotes flow of lymphatic fluids and blood.
